ThreadLite
Safari extension · macOS
Keep long AI chats responsive.
Long ChatGPT and Gemini threads make Safari work harder and harder — fans spinning, scrolling stuttering, typing lagging. ThreadLite asks Safari to defer work for conversation turns that are far offscreen, so the page you are actually looking at stays responsive.
- Helps long AI chat threads stay responsive in Safari on macOS
- Works with chatgpt.com and gemini.google.com
- Keep awake: Auto, 20, 40 or 80 recent messages; Wake all reverses it
- Reversible and fail-open — it never hides or deletes a message
- Active, focused, selected and streaming turns are never touched
- No network requests, no analytics, no conversation content stored
It changes rendering, not your history
ThreadLite uses Safari's own content-visibility support on eligible off-screen turns. Your prompts, code blocks and responses stay exactly where they were, in the page and in your account. Nothing is deleted, rewritten or uploaded, and no chat content is ever copied or stored by the app. Cmd+F, copy and VoiceOver are designed to be preserved; they are not presented here as independently verified guarantees.
Price
ThreadLite is sold on the Mac App Store with a one-time lifetime purchase — no subscription, no ads. If a new Mac does not show the app as purchased, use Restore Purchase with the same Apple Account.
