Solis
Sun & Moon · iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV
Solis cannot find my location.
Solis works without location permission. Choose a city manually during onboarding, or later from the Location screen. If you want the current position, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Solis and choose While Using the App. Location is used on your device to calculate sun and moon times; it is never stored by Solis or sent anywhere.
Sky AR asks for the camera. Do I have to allow it?
No. Camera permission is requested only when you open Sky AR, and the rest of the app works without it. Sky AR also needs a supported iPhone plus location and heading information, so it may be unavailable on some devices — that is expected, not a bug.
What is Solis Full, and how do I restore it?
Solis Full is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription, and it turns on Earthlight Year mode and the four-season comparison. Solis is usable for seven days from first launch; after that the unlock is required to continue. To restore, open Solis → More → Restore, using the same Apple Account that made the purchase and with the App Store reachable. Apple handles billing and refunds.
The widget still shows the old place.
Open Solis on iPhone after changing the selected place so the widget can refresh. Refresh timing is managed by the operating system, not by the app, so a widget can lag behind by a while.
Do my settings follow me to Apple Watch and Apple TV?
Yes, for devices signed in to the same Apple Account, through Apple's own on-device mechanisms. There is no account to create and no Solis server in between.
Punctum
Dot-matrix clock · iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV
The weather source shows nothing.
Weather is a Punctum Pro source and needs location permission. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Punctum and choose While Using the App, then select the Weather source again.
Next event or Now Playing stays empty.
Next event needs Calendar access; Now Playing needs Media & Apple Music access. Each is requested the first time you choose that source, and each can be changed later in Settings → Punctum. If a permission was denied, the source stays blank until it is granted again.
What is Full Display, and how is it different from StandBy?
Full Display fills the screen with a dimmed clock and keeps the screen awake while it is on; it can also start by itself when your iPhone charges in landscape. StandBy is the system feature that shows Punctum's widgets while a locked iPhone charges in landscape. Both are optional.
Widgets, Apple Watch and Apple TV do not update right away.
Open Punctum after changing a setting so widgets can refresh — refresh timing is managed by the operating system. Settings and your Pro purchase are shared with Punctum on Apple Watch and Apple TV signed in to the same Apple Account.
I bought Punctum Pro but it is not recognised.
Punctum Pro is an optional one-time purchase with Family Sharing on, not a subscription. Open Settings → Punctum Pro → Restore Purchases using the Apple Account that made the purchase. Apple handles billing and refunds.
ThreadLite
Safari extension · macOS
How do I turn ThreadLite on in Safari?
Open Safari → Settings (⌘,) → Extensions, tick ThreadLite, then choose Always Allow for chatgpt.com and gemini.google.com. Reload any chat tab that was already open before you enabled it.
Which sites does ThreadLite support?
chatgpt.com and gemini.google.com only. On any other site the extension reports that it is unavailable and does nothing; that is the intended fail-open behaviour. ThreadLite is not affiliated with OpenAI or Google.
Does ThreadLite delete or change my chat history?
Never. It asks Safari to defer work for eligible off-screen turns and nothing else. Your prompts, code blocks and responses stay intact in the conversation — nothing is removed from the page's data or from your account, and active, focused, selected and streaming turns are never touched. Use Wake all in the popup to reverse it immediately.
Does Find in Page (⌘F) still work?
Cmd+F, copy and VoiceOver are designed to be preserved by Safari's content-visibility, and the effect is reversible. These are not presented as independently verified guarantees, so if something misbehaves, use Wake all and email me.
Which mode should I use?
Keep awake decides how many recent messages stay fully awake: Auto, 20, 40 or 80. Auto is the sensible default; raise it if you often scroll back. Pause turns the effect off entirely.
Where is the purchase, and how do I restore it?
ThreadLite is a one-time lifetime purchase on the Mac App Store — no subscription. If the app does not show as purchased after a reinstall or on a new Mac, use Restore Purchase with the same Apple Account. Apple handles billing and refunds.
Span
Planning · iPhone · iOS 17 or later
Why does Span show a sample day?
Until you grant Calendar and Reminders access, Span shows a clearly labelled sample overlay so the app is usable and readable before any of your data is involved. The sample never mixes into your real plans, and granting access reveals your own day as it is — Span does not import the sample into it.
Does Span change my calendar or reminders?
No. Access is read-only: Span reads events and reminders to show what is fixed and what is free, and it never creates, edits or deletes anything in Calendar or Reminders. Plan durations, pencil slots and capacity are Span's own local data.
I denied Calendar access. Can I fix it?
Yes: Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars (or Reminders) → Span, and turn access on. Then reopen Span. If a read fails, Span keeps the sample overlay or falls back to it safely rather than showing a half-loaded day.
Why does Span ask for location?
Only to estimate travel time to an outing you added. Location is optional and handled on the device.
Where is my data stored, and is there a purchase?
Everything stays on your device. There is no account, no server, no sync and no subscription or in-app purchase in Span — it is a free download. Removing the app removes its local plan data.
Wayfinder
Tabs & sessions · macOS (Safari), Chrome
How do I turn Wayfinder on in Safari?
Open the Wayfinder app once, then go to Safari → Settings (⌘,) → Extensions, tick Wayfinder and allow it on all websites. Press ⌘⇧K on any page to open the palette.
How do I use it in Chrome?
Install the Wayfinder extension from the Chrome Web Store and press Ctrl+Shift+K (⌘⇧K on a Mac) on a page. Shortcuts can be changed at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. The Chrome edition has no companion app, so iCloud sync is unavailable there; WebDAV sync is the cross-device route.
The palette is empty, or the shortcut does nothing.
Reload the page. Pages that were open before Wayfinder was installed or updated need a reload to reconnect. The palette also cannot open on browser-internal pages such as settings or the extension store.
How do I save and restore a whole window?
Open the palette and choose “Save this window as a session”. Open the Session Manager from the palette or the toolbar button and press Resume. Sessions keep a version history, so an earlier state can be restored. Form data, logins and unsaved page state are not restored.
Why can't I find a page I visited earlier?
Recording visits and indexing page text are off by default. Turn them on in Settings → Recall & Privacy. Saved pages, open tabs and sessions are searchable without it. Private windows, sites you exclude and sensitive sites are never indexed.
Does Wayfinder collect my data?
No. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking, and the developer operates no server. Data stays on your device unless you turn on sync. The only network requests are site icons from Google's favicon service (switchable off in Settings), the optional daily wallpaper from Wikimedia Commons, optional search suggestions, and the sync server you configure. See the privacy policy for the full list.
Is it free?
Yes — Wayfinder is a free download with no subscription and no in-app purchase.
Ordbro
Translation · macOS (Safari)
How do I turn Ordbro on in Safari?
Open Safari → Settings (⌘,) → Extensions, tick Ordbro, then allow it on the sites you translate (for example dr.dk). Click the Ordbro toolbar button on that site and choose Always Allow on This Website. Reload the page afterwards.
What do I need before it translates anything?
A translation service and its key. Click the Ordbro toolbar button → Settings, choose a provider (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, DeepSeek, DeepL, Google Cloud Translation, Azure Translator, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint such as a local Ollama), paste the key and press Test connection. Ordbro has no servers and no subscription: the provider bills you directly.
Nothing appears on a video. What should I check?
Open the toolbar popup — it shows the current status. Make sure the video actually has subtitles, that the extension is allowed on that site, and that the page was reloaded after enabling it. Subtitle translation is part of Ordbro Pro; page translation works without it. If it says the subtitles could not be loaded, press Try again.
Do I need to switch on DR's own subtitles?
No. Ordbro reads the subtitle file directly, so DR's own captions can stay off. Note that DRTV is available in Denmark and needs a free DR login to play; Ordbro changes neither of those requirements and does not bypass them.
Which languages are supported?
Translated text can go to Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Swedish and more, depending on the provider. Change the target language in the toolbar popup.
What is Ordbro Pro, and how do I restore it?
Ordbro is a free download; web page translation is free. Ordbro Pro is a one-time $3.99 purchase with Family Sharing on, and it unlocks video subtitle translation. To restore, open Ordbro → Settings → Restore Purchases with the Apple Account that bought it. Apple handles billing and refunds.
What happens to my data?
Page and subtitle text is sent only to the translation provider you chose, with your own key. Settings, your key, the translation cache and the Anki queue stay on your Mac. Optional AnkiConnect talks only to Anki on your own machine. See the privacy policy for details.
Slip
Receipts & daily budget · iPhone · iOS 26 or later
What do I need to get started?
An iPhone on iOS 26 or later. During onboarding, set a monthly budget and your main currency; that is enough to start logging. No account, sign-in or bank connection is needed.
The receipt scanner will not read my receipt.
Text recognition runs on the iPhone, so a sharp, straight-on photo with the whole receipt in frame works best. Camera access is used only for scanning and photo access only when you pick an image; both can be changed in iOS Settings. After recognition, check and correct the fields before saving — nothing is written to the ledger until you confirm.
Apple Intelligence classification is not available.
That assistance depends on the device, system language, region and service availability. Manual entry, merchant matching and custom rules all work without it, and anything uncertain lands in the review queue for you to decide.
How does the daily allowance work?
You set a monthly budget and can separate everyday spending from fixed costs such as rent and subscriptions. Slip then shows what is left for today. Entries can be logged by amount and merchant, by a short sentence, or through Siri and Shortcuts automations you set up yourself.
Why does the converted amount differ from my bank?
Slip keeps the original amount and shows a conversion in your main currency using reference rates fetched over HTTPS (Frankfurter, with a fallback source). Those are reference estimates and can differ from your bank's settlement rate. The requests contain currency codes and dates only — never amounts, merchants or receipt contents.
How do I back up or move my ledger?
Settings has JSON backup export and restore, and both are free. A file saved to iCloud Drive or another cloud service is handled by that service, so keep exported files safe — they contain your financial records. Slip has no cloud sync of its own.
What is Slip Pro, and how do I restore it?
Slip is free to download. Slip Pro is offered as a yearly subscription ($11.99/year with a 7-day free introductory offer) or a one-time lifetime purchase ($19.99); the subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Restore Purchases is on the paywall and under Settings → Slip Pro. Existing entries, backup and restore stay free.
How do I delete my data?
Delete Slip from your iPhone using Delete App rather than Offload App, because offloading keeps the local ledger. Exported files and device backups must be removed separately. There is no server account to delete.
Hairspring
Clocks · Apple Watch and Apple TV
What is Hairspring?
A native clock drawn with thin threads: each second is a label tied to the minute by a physical string, so time reads as movement rather than digits. There are four Watch faces and six TV faces, all built to stay calm in the background of a room.
Is there an iPhone app?
No. The iPhone bundle only exists so the independent Apple Watch app can be installed and distributed. There is nothing to open on the phone.
What does the TV version cost?
Apple Watch stays free. On Apple TV there is a seven-day trial inside the app, then a one-time in-app unlock ($2.99) with Family Sharing — no subscription. The clock runs offline; purchase checks and restores go through the App Store. To restore, open Hairspring on the TV and choose Restore Purchase with the same Apple Account.
Can it replace the Apple TV screensaver, or turn the TV off?
No. Hairspring is an app you open to turn the TV into a quiet ambient clock, where you choose whether it keeps showing, dims, or ends after a set time. It cannot take over while another app is idle, cannot install itself as a system screensaver, and cannot guarantee turning the TV off. Drifting, dimming and dark colours reduce static highlights; they are not a guarantee against burn-in on every panel.
Why do the seconds move in bursts?
Animation runs in bounded windows with reduced rates in Always On and on the TV, which keeps energy use low and avoids long static highlights. Timing is a scheduling request, not a promised frame rate, so a very busy device can drop frames.
Do the Watch complications update every second?
No. Complications show a minute-scale reading and an entry point into the app; the system decides when they refresh. Hairspring does not replace your system watch face.
